Overview
Our goal is to provide a quality lacrosse program for youth & high
school age boys living in Southwest Portland. Our student athletes learn the
values of sportsmanship, camaraderie and competition. The priorities for our student
athletes are family, school and lacrosse. Our club also includes the development
of skills, character and leadership at all levels.
Ida B. Wells Lacrosse club offers programs for the following:
- Youth grades 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8
- High School grades 9th – 12th
Many of the players participate in multiple sports and high school players may have previous experience from youth lacrosse, but neither are not required. If you do not have prior lacrosse experience, it helps to be generally athletic, have good hand-eye coordination, be in good condition, be ready to work hard in practices and learn to love the fast game of lacrosse.
In Oregon, high school lacrosse is not an official sport of the Oregon School Activities Association
(OSAA) and not a member of PIL (Portland Interscholastic League). Therefore,
our team is run as a non-profit club by parent volunteers, and we rely on fees,
fundraising and Ida B Wells Boosters. Our club is a member of the Oregon High
School Lacrosse Association (OHSLA), Columbia Division, which follows OSAA
rules and guidelines, with very few exceptions.
